The Citadel held the seat of Egyptian government for seven hundred years. The Muhammad Ali mosque that crowns it is nineteenth-century and architecturally Turkish rather than Egyptian, which purists complain about and visitors rarely mind. On a clear day you can see the pyramids from the terrace; on a hazy one you cannot, and most days are hazy.
Morning pickup. The Citadel opens at 09:00 and the light for the city view is best before midday. We cover the two mosques and the terrace, and add the military or police museums if you want them.
Send us the dates and how many people are travelling, by WhatsApp or the form on this page. We reply with a written itinerary and a fixed price, usually within a few hours. Confirming is a message, not a payment.
No. We ask for no deposit and take no payment to hold a date. Nothing is charged when you book and nothing is payable in advance - you settle with us in Egypt once the trip is running.
Tell us and we will change it, or cancel it, at no cost. There is no cancellation fee and no deadline to worry about, because nothing has been paid up front. If plans shift while you are already here, we will rearrange what we can on the day.
The tourist regions are heavily policed and we work in them daily. Your guide stays with you at every site. If you are travelling alone, tell us - we will match you with a guide accordingly.
Pairs well with
Best seller The world's largest single-civilisation museum, then the plateau it was built to face.
Best seller The plateau on its own, in four hours, without the museum attached.
The old museum, still holding the Old Kingdom masterpieces the new one did not take.
