Siwa is 560 kilometres west of Cairo, fifty from the Libyan border, and Siwi rather than Arabic is the first language. The drive is long and there is no way to shorten it except flying to Marsa Matruh. What you get is an oasis that still functions as one, salt lakes with extraordinary buoyancy, and the oracle that told Alexander he was a god.
Leave Cairo early. Around ten hours with stops, arriving Siwa in the evening.
Shali, the Oracle, the Mountain of the Dead and the salt lakes, with Fatnas Island for sunset.
Four-wheel drive into the dunes, sandboarding, a hot spring, and dinner under the stars.
The drive back to Cairo, or on to Marsa Matruh for a flight.
Send us the dates and how many people are travelling, by WhatsApp or the form on this page. We reply with a written itinerary and a fixed price, usually within a few hours. Confirming is a message, not a payment.
Everything listed under what is included is booked and paid by us as part of the package. We hold the reservations; you owe nothing until you arrive in Egypt.
No. We ask for no deposit and take no payment to hold a date. Nothing is charged when you book and nothing is payable in advance - you settle with us in Egypt once the trip is running.
Tell us and we will change it, or cancel it, at no cost. There is no cancellation fee and no deadline to worry about, because nothing has been paid up front. If plans shift while you are already here, we will rearrange what we can on the day.
The tourist regions are heavily policed and we work in them daily. Your guide stays with you at every site. If you are travelling alone, tell us - we will match you with a guide accordingly.
